Actually, this is the exact opposite of what you should do! If you are sick, the best thing you can do to help your body heal is to come in for an adjustment. The nervous system controls and coordinates every system in your body, including your immune system! We remove those misalignments, and allow your body and immune system to correctly communicate. So, healing will occur quicker. In fact, many studies show that chiropractic care positively influences the immune system!
We have been fortunate enough to care for thousands of patients, all with their own body type and health challenges. With that experience, we use many different types of “indicators” when deciding where to adjust each patient. For example, we use our hands to detect subtle changes in spinal muscle tension, inflammation, restricted motion, or misalignments. We also observe patients for visible changes in posture, walking patterns, head tilt, or rotation, along with many other visual indicators that can uncover a clue of where an underlying problem exists. Assessments and x-rays help us to confirm what we are feeling without hands or observing with our eyes.
Misalignments in the spine and pelvis create imbalances in posture, strength and motion. These can be measured many different ways. One way to quickly check for imbalance is to observe a person’s functional leg length. We “check your feet” frequently to measure your leg length and to see how it changes as we make corrections to your spine. This indicator does not tell us where to adjust, but rather informs us of how balanced your spine is and how tension on the spinal cord is changing with each adjustment we make.
Dr. Rob uses a technique called Torque Release Technique. He is 1 of 250 Chiropractors in the world with advanced proficiency in this technique, and only 1 of 2 in the greater Milwaukee area. This is the newest, most researched technique in chiropractic.
The instrument that we use is called an integrator. Over years stress, spinal joints can lose motion and symmetry. This will put pressure on the nerves they were made to protect. In order to heal these damaged joints, we must restore motion to the ‘stuck’ joint and place it back into a healthy position. To do this, a certain amount of force must be applied to a very specific area of the spine. We use the integrator to correct these damaged joints and nerves in a very gentle way by creating force through speed and acceleration, rather than brute strength. It also lets us correct the right joints without effecting the healthy joints around it. Bonus: the integrator was also the very first FDA regulated tool to be used for chiropractic!
Most new patients are asked to receive approximately 3 adjustments per week as they begin their care. It does not matter which 3 days you choose as long as you get the recommended visits in each week. The number of visits you come to will depend on Dr. Rob’s recommendations. New patients will receive $40 off of their first appointment, which includes full neurological and muscle evaluations, complete health consultation, and Dr. Rob’s report of findings. Book your first visit today so we can help you achieve your best quality of life!
