There is a lot of research that has been done around the cause of disease in the body. People are diagnosed with chronic diseases every day, and scientists continue to research the causes of these illnesses. Recently, research has been done that shows the correlation between stress and our health. We all know that stress plays a huge role in our lives, in may different ways. By understanding more about stress and it’s cause, you can keep yourself healthier!
An acutely stressful experience is referred to as “biological conflict shock”. This causes disease in the whole body. This type of stress means that the trauma engages the mind and the emotions. Additionally, it causes the brain to guide a specific adaptation in the corresponding organ. This is shown through the CT scans of cancer patients. These scans revealed that “in each case a distinctly visible brain formation located overtop the brain relay that’s responsible for the function of the diseased organ”. Biological conflict shock stressors are all subjective to the person that is experiencing them. For example, two people could go through the same traumatic experience, but the impact on the body can be completely different.
We know that in stress, the brain initiates the “fight or flight” response. Similarly, the brain initiates a “special biological program of nature”, which adapts organs after a traumatic event. Our bodies develop symptoms according to these adaptations that the organs go through. There are different kinds of biological conflicts. This includes anger, territorial , identity, separation, loss, self-devaluation, motor, and morsel conflicts. Each one engages a different part of the brain to mount a meaningful adaptation in the body. This is where symptoms become important – they tell us that there is something underlying happening in the body!! Sometimes these symptoms arise while the biological conflict is occurring. More commonly, they occur during the body’s healing phase after the conflict is over. This is when the body begins to reverse and restore the adapted organ.
In an ideal world, symptoms will go away naturally after a conflict is resolved and the organs are restored. However, chronic diseases demonstrate that sometimes the body and mind do not move so smoothly through the adaptation and healing phases. That also includes allergies and autoimmune disorders! Sometimes the mind or body gets stuck in a conflict, and this pattern can cause the body to maintain symptoms, even when the conflict is over.
Chiropractors have known of the body’s connection to stress (especially emotional traumas and stressors) and it’s affect on health ever since the practice began. By getting adjusted and removing subluxations, chiropractic help your body break up these patterns of stressors and “detox” from the trauma on the body. It can get the body out of the “fight or flight” response and into a more relaxed state, allowing the body to not only function at it’s best, but to heal itself!
